PNG leader claims finish to mutiny


Papua New Guinea prime minister Peter O'Neill states the crisis sparked by a mutiny in the country's military is over.


Mr O'Neill claims Brigadier Common Francis Agwi, the commander of the defence power who was taken captive in the course of the mutiny Thursday morning, has been freed.


About thirty soldiers led by former Colonel Yaura Sasa placed the commander below residence arrest in a move backed by former prime minister Sir Michael Somare.


Mr O'Neill claims the troopers involved in the mutiny have withdrawn from Murray Barracks to Taurama Barracks and Colonel Sasa is being  dealt with .


The prime minister declined to clarify what this designed, other than to say that acceptable authorities were dealing with the colonel.
